Hi, I'm Jessie!

Creator of Remari Pottery & Designs.

My love of art started early in childhood and constantly evolved into adulthood. Throughout high school and college, I pursued all forms of art both independently and then through higher education in Florence, Italy as a passion only, and did not expect to make art a career. After getting a degree in dental hygiene, I discovered ceramics and fell in love with the feel of mud forming into vessels in my hands. I cannot imagine life without creating, and pottery gives me the perfect combination of art and function where I can (hopefully) provide people with something that is both pleasing and useful to them.

About the Artist

Jessie Salizar—Creator, artist, and potter for Remari.

Jessie is a registered dental hygienist and musician when not getting her hands muddy in the studio or messing with other artistic pursuits. Jessie grew up on a wheat farm in north-central MT near where she and her family reside now. Jessie is passionate about learning more in her pursuits in whatever she's doing, and you can see evidence of her experiences in life through her pottery where you will find MT scenery, dental-related designs and other homages to her various other interests.

Soon my pottery emerged at the forefront of my creations and I knew if I was going to pursue it seriously, I needed an official name. And so, while driving to Helena, MT (on a clay run!) with our two young daughters riding in their car seats in the back, my husband and I decided that my name should be "Remari" because it combined the first halves of our daughter's names (Remy + Aria) and somehow as a bonus, it sounded sophisticated, too! It fit immediately and made the most sense to headline my creations.

Other options in the mix were "Peony pottery" due to my deep love for fat, white, sweet-smelling peonies and "Jessie's Joy" as a nod to my first and middle name. But once Remari emerged as an option it seemed the perfect fit and my business name was finally born. The logo emerged soon after once I drew up a wreath made up of peo
